It will be Renzo Francabandera Tuesday 2 April 2019, from 11:00 at 16:00, to coordinate in the redeveloped spaces of the We Gil from Rome the round table AWARE - The Ship of Enchantments. Theater as a tool for social activation: a focus group of research and study on the issue of cultural production and the performing arts, applied to the field of urban and territorial regeneration as part of the process, in Basilicata, of Matera 2019 - European Capital of Culture.
THE THEATER AS A SOCIAL ACTIVATION TOOL is the title of the round table hosted in the redeveloped spaces of the Trastevere area in the capital.
The appointment - promoted by theater company Gommalacca Teatro - will be configured as a moment of confrontation between committed artistic and cultural operators, on the whole national territory, in processes and initiatives actively participated by citizens.
The meeting does not want to focus only on what are or have been good practice experienced by the professionals involved, but intends to focus on how much, political and social planning concerning the suburbs - also operated through art - did not go as he had imagined in the programming phase.
The Nave of concrete that, in Potenza, inspires the imagination of the project AWARE fully summarizes, in this sense, the typical circumstance in which who designed it, while acting in absolute good faith, has failed in the intent originally hypothesized.
Let it be spoken, therefore, also of what we have done and which we believed would bear other fruits, sharing the wealth of experience necessary so that the mistakes made are not repeated elsewhere; and experimenting, mostly, a new intervention philosophy, that contemplates the fallible and awareness of the past and present as a necessary perspective to think together about the future.

AWARE – The Ship of Enchantments
AWARE is a project of the theater company Shellac Theater, co-produced by Matera-Basilicata Foundation 2019 and inserted among the proposals of the Lucan creative scene that will make up the schedule of Matera – European Capital of Culture 2019.
The project summarizes, in the proposed contents and tested methodologies, the last ten years of artistic and pedagogical work of the company; historically predisposed to use the practices and meanings of theperformance art as a tool of social activation and innovation of the territories in which it operates, often peripheral and marginal with respect to large cultural production centers.
Just starting from the neighborhood that from 2012 it houses its headquarters - the Cocuzzo district of Potenza, with her Nave concrete - AWARE is measured by the creation of a traveling theater, The Ship of Enchantments: a spectacular car that, along the via della Basentana, puts into circulation the multiple and constantly changing identities of contemporary Lucania, collected during the research / action phase curated by Recollocal, and reinterpreted by the artistic direction of Carlotta Vitale, directed by Mimmo Conte, and the dramaturgy of Riccardo Spagnulo.
Five communities are involved in the realization phase of the project - supervised by the artistic and organizational mentoring of the Teatro dell’Argine from Bologna, e in partnership, as well as with the subjects mentioned, with the Canadian dance company SQx Dance Company and with the plastic artist Didier Gallot-Lavallée: Power, Albano of Lucania, Calciano-Garaguso-Oliveto Lucano, Ferrandina and Matera; all arranged along an axis, also ideal, which connects and unites them on the journey to the European Capital of Culture.
It will be them, indeed, to host the five episodes of the itinerant theatrical show that, in the month of July, will cross them with his Nave enchanted – always preceded, in each of the stages, dall’Island of Encounters: just a moment, also laboratory, of comparison with the inhabitants and with the spectators, preparatory to the show itself.
The Ship of Enchantments

It is Sofia's five-stage journey, a little girl who doesn't want to sleep, and a lost fish, aboard a ship that crosses the landscape, the communities and stories of a land full of mystery and wonder.
Accompanied by a crew ready for adventure, the protagonists come across magical characters and puzzles to solve. They will be able to overcome all the obstacles they encounter along the route and fulfill their wishes?
7 JULY – POWER
First episode: A ship among the buildings
Sofia, a little girl who can't sleep, sails together with the ship's crew to complete its mission: to bring home a red fish that has lost its memory.
10 JULY – ALBANO DI LUCANIA
Second episode: The Enchantress of souls and rocks
What is the border between good and evil? Captain Sofia tries to resolve the dispute between the Enchantress, lady of the valley, and the woodcutter who felled the tree of the sun.
14 JULY – CALCIANO
Third episode: The source of the Alchemist
The water reserves are gone, only the Source of the Alchemist Elia can give hope to the entire crew. Everything could go smoothly, but children always have something to complain to their fathers.
17 JULY – FERRANDINA
Fourth episode: Wind, lament and betrayal
In a ghost village, the few remaining inhabitants are faced with disillusionment and abandonment. An SOS must be launched, but the Post Office of bottled messages has long since closed. What Captain Sofia will do?
21 JULY – MATERA
Fifth episode: The grand finale: return to the Mother
Go away and come back. Leave a place and rediscover it different. When you go away there is always someone waiting for you: the journey of the (boy) that was a fish ends here, in the arms of his Mother. But that of Sofia and the Ship continues ...
