Renzo Francabandera in the last ones 20 For years he has talked about the theater in a very personal way, adding to his written reflections those drawn in the darkness of the room. For over fifteen years the artist has carried out a reconnaissance of the international performative passage, collecting graphic notes during the shows, made in the ferocity of a few moments, as the title of this exhibition recalls.
Born as quick notes to accompany his activity as a critic of the performing arts, these ink and pastel snapshots assumed a relevance of absolute artistic value from the beginning, independent of the original stimulus.
The staff, hosted in the gallery of Palazzo Thiene and created with the contribution of the two concomitant Vicenza festivalsIllustriouseBe Popular!, dedicated respectively to the graphic and scenic arts, it is a symbolic convergence of the expressive forms to which the artist and theater scholar has dedicated the time of his creative life.

The Vicenza exhibition offers the public a small but significant part of the artist's large collection, chosen from among the several hundred works created over a period of time that goes from the end of the first decade of the 2000s to the present day, some of which have already been exhibited in important Italian museums and theatres.
On this path, the exciting attempt to make the magic of the scene eternal and metatemporal, with small and quick sketches and collages without narrative pace, brings out delicate and lyrical fragments of a personal theatrical schedule.
Francabandera's expressive trait is recognisable, the undeniable emotional figure: the chronicle of the theatrical event in these works falls apart, in the fragile diluting of the lines, of faces, of the movement, all captured with rapid discontinuous strokes.
There are also some works that refer to the artistic activity of the Vicenza Company Stivalaccio Theatre, which emphasize the relationship of the human with the mask, with fiction and with the revelation of oneself.
“The gift of Renzo, to become the fleeting moment, the unrepeatable... an extreme act that remains, that in a fast and almost unfinished suddenly becomes memory for all, Polaroid instant painting that becomes witness and chronicle. “
